Al-Mustafa Open University congratulates on the "Fajr decade"

Today is the memorable 12th of the Iranian month of Bahman, the day on which in 1979, the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini (God bless his soul), returned to his homeland after 15 years in exile, to herald the triumph of the grassroots movement of the Iranian Muslim people. Following is an exclusive feature in this regard:

It is now 36 years since that memorable day when the Sage of the Age landed in Tehran to an unprecedented welcome seen anywhere in the world. Millions of Iranians thronged Mehrabad Airport to catch a glimpse of the return from exile of the iconoclast at whose impending arrival the British-installed and US-backed Pahlavi Shah had fled the country over two weeks ago. No doubt the enthusiastic masses in Iran chanted vociferously in the streets, via the radio, and on the TV, the now famous phrase: “The devil has fled at the approach of the angel.”

Imam Khomeini was the cynosure of all eyes throughout the world. As the international media focused upon his charismatic personality, waiting for some sort of sensation in Iran, especially when the Pahlavi regime, or more properly the administrative intact apparatus of the Shah’s prime minister Shapour Bakhtiar that was thundering threats, the unguarded Imam and his millions of unarmed followers, neither dug trenches nor went for the weapons arsenals. Straightaway, he drove from the airport to the Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery which was blooming with more and more new graves every day, as the regime continued its killing spree in Tehran and other cities, on the orders of the its masters in the US and the illegal Zionist entity.

It was a unique choice for his first speech by Imam Khomeini. He chose the resting place of the apparently dead to address the world of the seemingly alive, in a speech that was relayed all over the globe where consciences had not just been long frozen, but become lifeless. Every word, he spoke has been diligently recorded and is punctually aired and screened every year, and does not need to be repeated here, including his emphasis on establishing the Islamic Republic, his branding of the US as the ‘Great Satan’, and his promise of support to the oppressed people of Palestine. It is worth recalling that many of the self-acclaimed analysts and politicians in Iran and abroad chuckled at the words of the black-turbaned and white-bearded man who was in his late 70s. They didn’t give him much chance of survival, let alone success. They thought he was day-dreaming. Most in the West were convinced that he would soon be taken care of by the American-trained military of the fugitive Shah, or pushed into the sidelines by a new brood of western-educated, and supposedly democratic-minded self-styled revolutionaries who were now pouring into Tehran from Paris, London, Bonn, New York, etc, in the hope of taking over the country as one of the those puppet republics. How wrong they were? We mean the analysts, the politicians, the experts, and the Iran-watchers of world, who saw world developments only through the stained glasses of either the capitalists in Washington, or the Communists in Moscow.

No need to recount here the spectacular developments of the past three-and-a-half decades in the Islamic Republic of Iran, which Imam Khomeini firmly established as promised, and then guided it through the intensity of the devilish plots of the Great Satan, including the 8 year war imposed through Saddam. In retrospect, whether today’s politicians, analysts, and experts of the West like it not, it is crystal clear that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the epitome of practical reality, while the Islamic Revolution which continues its inspirational awakening of the masses in the region and beyond, is an undeniable fact. The astounding progress of the Islamic Republic in all fields, including its profound influence or cultural, social, intellectual, and political developments outside the borders of Iran is proof of the farsighted vision of Imam Khomeini. He predicted the end of communism, and it is no more. He foretold the eventual collapse of capitalism, and it is on its last legs in the West. He prophesied the weeding out of the cancerous tumour called the Zionist entity, and it is death throes are evident for all. Thus, in a last ditch attempt, that speaks of sheer frustration and intellectual bankruptcy of the West and its clients in the tottering Arab reactionary states, the Great Satan and its devilish minions have created the Frankenstein monster call Takfiri terrorism in a hopeless bid to try to undermine the wave of awakening unleashed by the Islamic Revolution.

Soon the Takfiri/Salafi and similar deviated groups that trace their origin to the Khwarej or renegades of the early years of Islam, will collapse. It is near the end of these cannibalistic elements that tear apart the organs of their Muslim victims to be eaten raw, who smash the heads of toddlers on stone, who rape and sell women, and who destroy mosques and shrines. Insha Allah (God Willing) the curtain will come down on not just Israel, but also on all other spurious states, thereby ringing alarm bells in the West, as the world awaits the promised new order of the global government of justice, to be established by the awaited Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), the 12th and Last Infallible Successor of Prophet Mohammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny). Imam Khomeini who transformed Iran into the bastion of faith and hope for the world’s oppressed, was indeed a steadfast follower of the Prophet and the Infallible Ahl al-Bayt. His words continue to ring our ears, including the famous phrase, which he had said in these days 36 year ago: Our Revolution was a burst of Light?
